The Get External Data command in Excel?

I have an Excel 2002 homework assignment that tells me to use Get External
Data to import a Word file. I'm unable to find that command through the Data
menu, or any other for that matter. I did find the Get External Data toolbar
however it doesn't have the specific command anywhere.

Any help? Please respond though the discussion group.

Hi Cheryl,

In Excel 2002 this menu is called the Import External Data menu and it's
located under the main Data menu. I don't know about importing data from
Word this way, though. Can't say I've ever tried that before.

Hi back, Rob,

Thanks so much for helping out. I had a feeling that this was a misprint in
the assignment.

I did have success through the Import External Data command once today, but
a lot of the info was unreadable. The only part that worked was what the
program was able to interpret as a list, I guess. Think I'll stick to
drag-and-drop for Word-to-Excel imports.
