The File menu from my powerpoint 2000 is missing

I do not have the "File" button visible on the MAIN menu of PPT 2000 (file is
on the standard menu, but it doesn't have the print options). The main menu
starts with "Edit". I have tried toolbar options, and repair, removal, and
reinstall.

My laptop doesn't have this problem, same user, same program.

Any ideas how to get "File" back?

From the View menu, choose Toolbars, then Customize.
On the customize dialog box, click "Reset".

That should restore all of your toolbars and menus to defaults.

You'll lose any customizations you've done to them, though.

Thanks, I already tried that, and no it doesn't help. I've even reinstalled the software and I am totally baffled.

OK, next try doing a search for *.PCB files.

One will be called Powerpnt.PCB or something very close to that.
With PPT shut down, delete that file, then restart PPT.

If that doesn't work, we'll want to find out whether you have any add-ins installed.
Sometimes they can add/remove items from the menu structure.
