The document 'Filename' caused a serious error the last
time it was opened. Would you like to continue opening it?

Does anyone have any other fixes, the microsoft one did
not work

you may try OpenOffice. Sometimes it seems to be able to 'repair'
corrupted Excel files better the MS does
