Got a little problem. To save space on an aging hard drive array
zipped up a large directory of old files. When deleting the old file
some of them were apparently corrupt but vanished anyway after
moment. I passed it off as a glitch until I couldn't delete th
directories they were in. Other directors were removed normally an
regular computer operation continued. This is a server computer so
couldn't restart. I tried opening a DOS window and trying the r
{filename} /s but it told me something was corrupt.

Now what I figure happened is that a few fragments of the files wer
left behind and it's keeping me from deleting the folder. Thi
shouldn't be a big problem, at least I hope not.

Does this sound like a big problem or did I go about it wrong? Also
didn't get any drive space back when deleting the files. Why?

Thank yo

No idea.

Make sure you have a backup.
I would do a CHKDSK Drive: /F ,scheduled for next reboot.
