The Desktop Background window

When I open the window to place a new desktop background, I click browse and
pick a picture to place. But when I do this, it puts every picture in the
file on the desktop window. I now have tons of pictures to sort through when
I want to change my desktop. How do I stop it from doing that and how do I
remove the existing pictures from the window?

Only reliable method is to move the picture files from My Pictures folder to
some other location.
