The date automatically changes when I open an email into Word

When I open an email into Word from Outlook the email's date changes to
todays date changing the document.

I have tried various things but can't stop it happening any ideas?? its very
frustrating and really destroying my record keeping.
 
If you mean the modified date changes, that is by default. - the email has
been modified by opening.
