Can't seem to get rid of it - it Deletes ok, but reappears when
the computer restarts. Empty, of course.

The way my data files are organized, I don't need it. Is there a
way to kill it permanently?

Thanks

Open Control Panel, Appearance and Personalization, click
Personalization. In the left pane, click Change desktop icons. Under
Desktop icons, clear the check box for each icon that you want to remove
from the desktop, and then click OK.

Seems right. Should work.
But the only icon with a checkmark is the trash bin...

???

hello....
are you totally sure its really empty?

perhaps it has some hidden files inside? ( I mean files with the hidden
attribute)

It's Microsoft - I'm sure of nothing.

The folder deleted fine a while ago (but returned) - now it
won't. It's now BLUE, not TAN. Tools - view hidden files but
nothing seems to be in it.

What else should I look for?

I suspect that some other program that you are running is creating this file
when your computer starts

especially if its blue and not tan(yellow), it is not a default kind of
folder...

A mystery - but perhaps this one isn't Vista...

can you use the snipping tool to create a screen capture of that icon and
then upload the image
to www.imagshack.us ?

and post the link (that page will generate lots of differnent links.. you
will copy the last one on the bottom)
