Textbox - plain Text editor for Windows Build 2.2.1 is available

Textbox, plain text editor (build 2.2.1) for Windows,
is now available for free download at:

http://www.bee.net/prime-time/textbox.zip.

* .txt file extensions are now shown in the window caption
when there is more than 1 period in the name,
(ie. test.asm.txt). Normally, .txt extensions are not shown.

* Dramatic increase of scrolling speed when using the
directional arrow keys on the keyboard to scroll through huge
files (was painfully sloooowwwwww).

My work on textbox is now done. It's time to stop working
on this program and actually start to use it a bit!
I'm ready to move on and start some new projects.
If any bugs are found in 2003, I will fix them
and post an update at ACF. Otherwise, this is it for updates.

Do you have a website with further info?

Actually, I don't. I don't get paid for making my software
available for people to download, so why would I care if they don't?

Could you summarize in the newsgroup the features of your program?

Thanks,

You've lost me there.
I was just after further details, so i could give a quick summary in a link
to your software.

Well, I wrote Textbox for personal use. It doesn't really matter to me
who else is using it. I'm sure it is worth your time to download it and
read the README file.

You are being rather obtuse. Why don't you just provide a link to the
readme file for people who are trying to be helpful, or who want to
know beforehand what the features are? I don't think this particular
person wants to use the program, they just want to provide a link to
let other people know it's available and state briefly what sets it
apart from other editors in its class. Seems like a very reasonable
request to me.

If I knew what obtuse meant, I would be better able to respond :)

Because then I will have two copies of the readme file floating around.
Everytime I change it I will have to replace both versions (one in the
zipfile, the other at the website.)

Here's a newsflash: programmers want to spend allocated programming
time working on software - not the documenation! I have gotten so lazy
in this area that I have stopped updating the majority of
docs for all but a few of my progs and can't make available again
until I do.

Lastly, the readme file is just a piece of crap 5k plain text file.
It is hardly capable of conveying whether the program is good or not.

Similar to "dense." (-:

It only takes a second to ftp a file. Do it just after saving a new
version, then at the same time update the zipfile immediately after.

I know what you're saying, it just seems odd that you won't do even a
tiny bit to make it known to people.

Thanks for defending my honour, Therese. If it ever shows up, it'll be
dead grateful, I bet. =
