textbox insanity

I figured this out once but forgot the trick.
When I draw a textbox the text is vertical.
IT IS NOT A MATTER OF CHANGE DIRECTION UNDER FORMAT TEXTBOX.
I remember it had something to do with the size of the textbox or some other
formatting issue.
I want the text to simply read left to right, not vertical.
the Direction arrows are pointed right in the Direction toggle button in the
Format Textbox ribbon area.
But the text is still vertical.
Please provide a clear explanation. thanks.

Remembered the solution -- decrease the right indent in the Paragraph Group...
It's not enough to just expand the box to the right because you need much
more room than the box can hold for the text -- for some reason Word defaults
to a 2.5" right indent that must be adjusted to have a "normal" textbox. Oh
well.

Word would not default to a 2.5" right indent unless you have modified your
Normal style to have such an indent.
