textbox disappears after closing reading screen

I e-mailed a Word file with textboxes in it to some co-workers, and everyone
but one person was able to use it with no problem. The one person that
couldn't use it was able to see the textboxes when the document was viewed in
the Reading screen (which you can't type in), but as soon as the screen was
closed, the textboxes disappeared. Nothing is overlapping the boxes so it
isn't an Order issue and no traces of any of the textboxes can be found when
clicking in the areas of the document where the textboxes should be. When
the person sends the document in an e-mail, the receiver can see the
textboxes. How can this be corrected? Is it a setting that was accidentally
turned on/off in his Word?
