Text string sort limit

B

Bob Laverty

I concatentated several columns of data to use as a vlookup match key between
some database query results and some existing spreadsheet data. The
concatenated string is all numeric, 27 characters long, but formatted as
text. The Excel 2003 sort appears to have a limit to the number of
characters it will sort as a text string. Is this issue documented anywhere?

I don't think there is any limit.... other than limit on number of characters
in a column.

You are probably having trouble as you have a formula in the cells....
To test, paste special as values and then sort...
