Text Size too Large

B

Bob Brown

I have a most infuriating problem. At least once a day or
more, my IE 6 blows the window text size a super hugh,
like text would be a 144 font. It is also too large in
dialog boxes. I have:
IE6 ver 6.0.2800.1106IC SP-1,
on a Gateway 400,
running Microsoft Windows 98 4.10.2222 A, with a
GenuineIntel Pentium(r) II Processor Intel MMX(TM)
Technology,
320MB RAM. (Yes, I know its an antique but we're a NFP)

To date the "fix" has been to 1) do either a restore. or
2) reinstall IE6, or, sometimes running Fix-it Disk Fixer
will correct the problem.

This is most infuriating particularly since I can not use
MS Support when it occurs as everything is too big, like
one letter on an entire screen.

If anyone has a sugestion short of offering my PC adrink
of water or buying a new one, which my Board has said no
to, I'd love to see it.

P.S Have run Spy-Bot and McAfee Virus Scan. They do not
correct ther problem.

Thanks,
Bob Brown

One possible cause of that is malware fiddling with the Accessibility
settings, e.g. adding a User style sheet. So scan your system with
the usually suggested tools (e.g. SpybotSD and Ad-Aware).

In case it is something else you may be able to use the Accessibility
dialog as a workaround. E.g. check Ignore font sizes specified.

In any case to read the text you should be able to use View Source.
E.g. press Ctrl-a, Ctrl-c and paste into a Notepad window.

Another thing that I would try in case allowed you to keep the HTML
format but fixed the font size problem is to do a File, Send, Page by
E-mail. MS Support pages usually allow that.

Good luck
