Text shows through layered images

I have one rectangle box that contains text stacked over another rectangular
box that also contains text; the text of the lower box shows through the
upper box, making it impossible to read the text of the upper box
The transparency setting for the two boxes are set at 0% so that is not the
reason that the text in the lower box shows through the upper box
How can I make the fill feature of the upper box cover the lower box?
Thanks

Hi,

You don't mention which PowerPoint version. 2007?

Anyway, sorry of this is a silly question, but do you have some sort of fill
color in your text box on top? Are you able to send a sample?
