text reflows

When I open a word doc created on another machine, the
text reflows throughout the document. This appears to be
related to the page setup of the current printer I am
using.
How do I open these documents without them reflowing?
I don't know what printer settings they are using

You can't. Word documents are formatted to the current printer driver.
