text overlaps and oversized

On certain sites (not all) when I open up the homepage
(IE. Microsoft Office Update) the text is oversized and
overlaps each other so that it is extremely difficult to
read. The entire page is far to large to fit in the
screen. I have adjusted the text size to the smallest
setting without any significant change. Where do I need
to go to change these settings.

I have the identical problem, and in my regular
applications some fill-in boxes have an outsized font that
I cannot control. Seems like an HTML rendering
problem/conflict between IE6 and WinXP.
This problem does not occur between IE6 and WinME on the
identical screen pages.

I would embed here an example, but Bitmaps are apparently
not permitted here.
