When editing text in Design mode i cannot see the text insertion point after
clicking with the mouse. Is this normal or do i need to change the set up ?.
I find it difficult to work without an on screen indication as to wher i am
current positioned in the text.

Hi Harry,

There should be an insertion point cursor that is display on the design page. However, it is not controlled by any setting in FP.
This is normally controlled globally via mouse settings in the control panel or via the mouse vendors driver.

This post is a couple of months old, but I'm also having the problem - the
insertion point is not visible in Design mode. Does anyone know a fix for
this?

It can be annoying to find it. That's why I always have split view open so
I can verify the position in Code.

I could do that of course, but the problem is still there in the dialog
boxes. In any case, this is not a situation to be solved by a workaround.
it's expensive software and it's not working correctly.

This is an old post, but if you're still having the problem ... I had the
identical problem and solved it.

Open Windows' Control Panel

Open Accessibility Options and the Display tab.

Cursor option: Make the width one click larger.

Click 'Apply'.

Check Frontpage again. It should be fixed. You then may be able to go back
to Accesibility Options again and make the cursor narrower again.
