Insertion point not visible

FP2003, in Design Mode, my text insertion cursor is visible but the insertion
point is not. In Code view it behaves normally. Same quirk in some dialog
boxes, like Picture Properties' field boxes ... no insertion point. But the
Hyperlink dialog window is normal.

It doesn't happen in any other software on this machine. I've been
corresponding with Microsoft for over a week ... no help.

Anybody know a fix for this?

Check to see if Windows Update or the Manufacturer web site has an update video driver for your
video card.

Thanks Thomas. A good idea, but it didn't work. I checked online. I
already have the latest driver. I downloaded it and reinstalled anyway in
case it was corrupt. No change.

Here's another clue - It keeps getting stranger - does this suggest any
possiblilty?

I created a new Windows User with practically nothing on the desktop.
Logged in, booted FP2003. Voila! FP behaves normally. Hoping to eliminate
an obsure corrupt file, I migrated my main Windows User settings to the new
User ID and logged in again. Problem's back ... no insertion point.

Ok, then it appears that your Windows User account has a video setting that is impacting the cursor
in FP.

Good lead. It took a while to find the spot; I went to
Accessibility/Display and reset the cursor option width. It worked!

There are still some quirks scattered around Frontpage that were'nt there
before I upgraded. For instance

insert/picture/file dialog box clicking on a file name doesn't display the
name in the 'file name' box

I'm guessing that the Frontpage installation was invasive to many details of
the user setup options. I'll just have to find them all. But the cursor
business was by far the worst. Thanks for your input, Thomas. You got me on
the right path where Microsoft's tech support only wasted a lot of my time.
I owe you a beer.
