Text File Import Fails on YYYYMMDD data field, worked great in Acc

For several years I have been importing fixed width text files that contain 8
character dates in YYYYMMDD format. Never had a problem. My machine was
upgraded to Office 2007 and now the import of the date fields fails with a
type conversion error. I search the MS site and could find nothing about this.

Anyone heard of this, I can't be the only person using YYYYMMDD date formats.

When you import the data, what is the format the new date data is in?
You may have to change your date field to a date/time type and format it the
same ast the imported data.
I haven't used Access '07 myself yet so someone may have a better response.
Wait a day or 2 before you go to all this trouble.

After rereading my post I realized there was some information I left out. The
database is in Access 2000 format, created with Access 2003. The columns in
Access are defined as Date/Time. The input date looks like 20060623 and is in
a fixed width input file. The only difference between then and now is that
Access 2007 is being used to open the database and import the data.

I've got exactly the same problem with Access 2007, and which did not exist
when using 2003 or '97. 2007 will not recognise 25122007 in a text file (or
12252007 if you are American) as a date, whereas earlier versions did.

I'm assuming that you haven't found an easy solution, so I've just created a
new thread to try to stir up the issue again.
