Text box Llinked to cell in excel does not stay

When I create a textbox on a chart in Excel 2003 and link it to a cell it
works. I save the file as a template and when I go back in the link is not
there? Has anyone experienced this.
 
You may want to post what you did in more detail.

For what it's worth (I use xl2002), it worked ok for me.

I created a chart on a worksheet and on a chartsheet and added a textbox to
each.

I assigned the textboxes to sheet1!f1 (both were linked to the same cell).

I saved it as a template, closed, and created a new workbook based on this
template.

And both textboxes updated when I changed the value in F1 of Sheet1.
