Text and Sum

OK, I exepct to get the result of 5 (10-5) as I want excel to ignore to
calculate "Thomas"

//Thomas
 
Thomas

=SUM(B1,-A1,C1) entered in D1

A1 = 5
B1 = thomas
C1 = 10

D1 returns 5
