test of suggestion added to newsgroup

This is a test to see if a user can post a suggestion to Microsoft without
the post appearing in th enewsgroups where people can vote. Some seem to
feel this is "campaigning" for support of their suggestions. I don't think
the user has any control over whether or not the suggestion shows up.

Just poor design by Microsoft which allows the newsgroups to be clogged up
with suggestions. It does, however encourage people to vote for or against a
suggestion, allowing users to vote against bad suggestions, but when you
vote, there is no way to explain why you are voting a certain way. In other
words, if someone makes a completely invalid suggestion (user error) we can't
vote against it and (at the same time) explain that the suggestion is not
valid or point out a workaround.

I don't see any way to submit this suggestion without it showing up in the
newsgroup. I am NOT (obviously) campaigning for others to support my idea,
though.

Every post using the news protocol (NNTP) will show up in the newsgroups.
Practically all the MVPs use newsreaders (which require the NNTP protocol)
instead of the web interface because of the speed of loading and the ability
to fine control filters.

Newgroups are not clogged up at all by suggestions although UseNet
newsgroups can get spammed to death. Another reason to have the additional
filtering ability available in newsreaders. We don't even see any of the
voting, so those of us who use newsreaders could care less.

I agree with you. But, If you will read the rant to this mornings 9:52 am
post from "Dan Taylor" you will see why I posted this.

Thanks, Arvin!

You can always reply to the post with comments.

As Arvin said, they'll show up in any newsreader. At least now we know it
was a 'suggestion' via the Web, and can ignore (or respond), and there's
link if you're inclined to vote.
