test if printer epson ESC/P il ready

Hello

How can i know if a epson ESC/P printer is ready ?
Sometime this printer stop and set to unready.

Is it possible to send esc/p code to receve status ?
It's a bidirectionnal RS232.

And is it possible to set ready this printer by ESC/P code ?

My printer is LQ100
