Terminal Server Permissions Issue

Tim

I am running Terminal Server 2000 on 2000 server, the apps
that the users are running require them to have
administrator rights to the machine. This leaves me with
the issue of them being able to shut down the machine
instead of just log off. If I disable the permissions for
administrators to shutdown the machine though I can't even
shut it down. What can I do to prevent terminal services
users from shutting down the machine and still allowing me
to do so.

We have seen the same problem at our company. We are
still looking at possible solutions, but since we are just
running one app right now, we are only running that app
environment for the clients. You can set that in RDP-Tcp
properies window in Termserv Client Configuration //
Environment tab. That way they don't have access to
explorer/desktop and can't shutdown the machine.
