temporary files

I have Windows XP and am try to find my temporary files.
I have been there once since I have had the new system
and for some reason I just can't get back to them.

Temporary files are scattered all over your system, although they tend to
congregate in folders called Temp.

Could you be referring to the Temporary Internet Files (TIF) that are
created by Internet Explorer? To see the TIF, open Internet Explorer and
look for Tools > Internet Explorer > General tab > Settings button > View
files button.
