I am new at excel and I would like someone to explain how to set up a new template.

A template is created by the way you save a document. So create the
document -- inserting all data, formulas, etc and format as desired. Then
when you go to save... change the SAVE AS TYPE option to Template (instead
of Worksheet). This will automaticalliy change the file location to where
the file will be stored -- which is good. Unless you have redirected Excel
to look somewhere else -- you want to save to that location -- so that when
you look to use the template -- to open a new worksheet based on that
template -- you merely go to the menu (not toolbar button) FILE --> NEW and
select your template. Because it was saved as a template -- you cannot
easily save over it -- but will be prompted to save it as a new worksheet
file.
