Template issue

For years, the firm I work for was printing legal pleadings in pre-printed
legal paper in WordPerfect. We are changing to Word and recently made a
pleading template. (Lines on the left with numbers, Firm name in the footer)
We need to copy the text from older pleadings in these for electronic filing,
but when we attempt this, we have to use the "Paste Special" tool and choose
unformatted text, then go into the document and re-format the text. This is a
real pain on a large pleading. If we paste the text in the normal way, the
1.5 spacing of numbers on the left is removed.
Anybody have any ideas on applying a template or a style to existing
documents? Is there any way to lock the spacing of the pleading line numbers?
Thanks
Bill

Hi =?Utf-8?B?QmlsbCBI?=,

I'm not sure I can be much help, but I can at least confirm someone is reading
this :) What one can do would depend an awful lot on how these line numbers have
been generated. My "gut feeling" is that the better approaoch might be to bring
the old document content into new documents and apply the line numbers
after-the-fact.
Really could use some help here.
