Template issue?

I have 10 users with identical new PCs and Office 2007. One user made a
rather simple template for office memos. She shared it with two other users.
However, when either of thme try to use it, after a few minutes working on
such docs, The hour glass comes on, the CPU usage goes to 100% and the user
has to try to close Word to get back control.

I thought the interval might be related to the auto recovery backup but it
happens even when that is turned off.

Any ideas?

User emailed others a copy of the template file as an attachment. Could
opening a template file cause calls to stuff only located on the authors PC?
As far as I can tell, it;s just a blank memo with some margin and paragraph
settings.

It then depends on what the other users did with it. If they saved the
attachment in their User Templates folders, I shouldn't think there'd be a
problem. If they're trying to use it directly from the attachment, results
would be unpredictable at best.
