Template format

I have been given several hundred old word docs. They are cover sheets. The
boss wants new cover sheets with much font formatting. Colored font, bold
font ,different indents etc. Is there a way to create a template with new
formatting and then just copy paste from old? I rarely use word so any
articles or examples would be appreciated. Thanks

No simple easy way unless the old documents were formatted using styles
intelligently. I'm assuming that they are not.

Create a new template that has styles for the various kinds of formatting
you want. http://addbalance.com/usersguide/styles.htm
Read this article before you start. With a project this big, you need to
learn much more about Word, first.

Once you have created your template, create a new document based on it. Then
open one of the old documents, copy the contents of that document and paste
into the new document. Format the new document _using your styles to control
all formatting_ and save it as a template. Do the same for each of the old
documents.

If the old documents are formatted using styles intelligently, then you
could give styles in your new template that fill the same purpose as the old
styles the same names, attach your new template to the old documents
updating styles, and the old documents will be reformatted.
