Tasks will not open when assigned

When I assign a task to someone else, they can open the task and manage it
correctly etc etc.
However when they assign a task to me, it arrives in my inbox (Outlook 2003
11.8002.6568 SP2) and I cannot open the task, this happens if I receive tasks
from either Outlook 2002 or 2003. Locally within the company or externally.
Has anyone had a similar issue??

YES!

The very second that Office 2003 SP2 loaded, all of our Outlook 2003 clients
stopped being able to open/accept assigned tasks. Fortunately, the attached
files are still readable in the preview pane, but we have lost all ability to
track/update.

None of our Outlook 2000 have been affected, naturally.

I am now also having about the same problem. I am able to send a task,
however if someone sends me one and I click on the "Accept" button nothing
happens. Sure would like to know if there is a fix to this problem.

Thanks,

Stu

The issue has been forwarded to the Microsoft Engineers and I understands
they are working on the problem. lets all be patient and I'm sure Microsoft
will have it resolved shortly. rgds, simonf

Hi,

The solution for new tasks is to uninstall "Security Update for Outlook 2003
(KB892843)" and reboot. This doesn't work for tasks created before
uninstall.

Yes Gabi, that would work. If one remembers to disable Microsoft Update for
all your client machines so the update doesn't automatically reinstall during
the night. Or five minutes after one leaves the office manager's desk. 'Hey!
It stopped working again!'

I'll patiently wait for a solution. Our main Task Assigner was happy enough
to switch to using email, which has these nifty follow up flags...
