Tasks: changing categories by drag and drop?

I am heavily using categories to organize my to-do list and so I have
defined a view that is grouped by categories.

What I like very much is that when one can change categories by dragging
an item from one category to the other. However, that operation *adds*
the new category and so the item henceforth is displayed in both
categories. Is there a way to change that behavior so that it actually
changes, i.e. *replaces* the category? I tried with misc. modifier keys
(the usual suspects: Shift/Control/Alt plus combinations) and searched
the options, but nothing regarding this subject. Maybe some registry
tweak?

Any idea or wisdom on this?

Use the other method - select the Tasks you want to change, right click |
Categories, deselect the unwanted Category, select the wanted one. Done.

Come on - I know of course how to assign and change categories! But the
described standard way requires several mouse movements, a lot (5 to be
precise) of rather accurate mouse clicks plus - if a category happens to
be towards the end of the list - some list scrolling, etc. So, all in
all, it's a relatively lengthy procedure that IMHO rather discourages
the use of categories than supports it.

I was asking for something *quick* and intuitive like grabbing an item
and dragging it over to an other category (plus at most having to press
some modifier key while doing so). But apparently that is not
available/possible...

It would be nice if there were at least a way to separate the category
lists, so that Outlook wouldn't always list *all* categories in a single
list, but rather maintain separate master category lists for tasks,
calendar and address entries. That way the list wouldn't always be
cluttered (and thus unfriendly long which frequently requires scrolling)
with categories, that don't apply to the current purpose.
