Taskbar

My friend is using a Gateway computer with Windows 2000
and every time it is turned on there is an error message
that states "Unable to complete download". When you press
ok in the error box it goes away but comes back whenever
you reboot.

When you open a program then close it it remains in the
taskbar and the taskbar locks up.

Can anyone help on these topics.

You have a masked virus. Well, most likely.
Check your startup folder and the 'run' string in the
registry. Look for anything out of the ordinary. If you
