Taskbar too large

Hi,
I changed the fonts XP uses for everything yesterday and everything seems
fine however the taskbar is slightly higher now and the icons on it are too
big. It is also showing the day, which it didn't do before, and there is
quite a bit of space between it and the time. How do I fix this? Also, is
it possible to use a half size in a font? My icon text is a little too small
but the next size up is too big.
Thanks!
Sue

Explain in detail the method you used to change the font sizes.

What is 'it'?

No.

but the next size up is too big.
Thanks!

Once you post what you did, it may be possible to suggest an answer to
your icon text problem.

Dear Robert,
I right clicked on my desktop and chose properties. I then clicked on
appearance and then clicked advanced. I then chose each individual item and
changed the font selection for it.

"It" refers to the taskbar, clock section.

The icnons on my desktop are the proper size, the problem is with the icons
on the taskbar.
Thanks!

OK, testing this on my system finds that the font size for Active Tile
will change the size of the icons on the taskbar. I can't reproduce what
you describe but that may be a function of the font being used. I did
see one effect that may be contributing to your problem. I made the font
size as large as possible and then brought it back to 8. The taskbar was
larger than normal.

Got to Start/Settings/"Taskbar and Start Menu". Uncheck "Lock the
taskbar" and also "Auto-hide the taskbar", Apply, and then recheck them
if they had been and Apply. That should get things back to normal for
you if our systems are behaving in the same manner.

Post what happens.

Dear Robert,
That didn't fix it. Actually I had tried that while waiting for your
response and just tried it again. My real gripe is that the icons for quick
launch and the system tray are distorted becuase they are too big. I need
them to be 1/3 smaller.
Thanks!

Are you using an XP Style, Windows Style, or Windows Classic Style? I found
that using the XP Style, and making the fonts bigger, also resulted in a
too-large taskbar and distorted icon sizes. Save your theme. Then chance
to one of the windows styles and tweak away. Better?
