Taskbar issue

Hello all:

I have user who complained that his windows taskbar dows not show/display
running apps, especially when the running programs are minimized they do not
appear on the taskbar. The only way to find out what programs are open is to
do ALT+TAB. I have looked at the taskbar properties, autohide is not turned
on.

Does anyone know what could be causing this problem. He is running Windows
XP SP2.
