taskbar icons vanished

Hello,
I am having a problem which is preventing me from work on the PC...the
taskbar does not display the icons of the applications that are running. I
can not alternate between several files or texts neither diffrent
applications, like Internet explorer and Outlook because instead of
minimising to the taskbar, they somehow seem to disappear. It all happened
without any apparent cause, I didn't install any new software, and I scaned
for viruses and it seems it all fine...
can anyone help me, please?

See this from MVP Kelly Theriot:

I appreciate your help, however I don't know how to run a script and there's
not much information about it on Microsoft help, at least objective enough
for an absolute script beginner...
thanks anyway for your time!

I naturally assumed you would have read the instructions at the top of
the page. Here they are for your convenience:

"To use the VBS Files: Download .vbs file and save it to your hard drive
(you may want to right click and use Save Target As). Double
click the vbs file. You will be prompted when the script is done."

I think you can manage the double-click, yes? ;-)

The problem wasn't of course with the double clicking. I simply couldn't
execute the instructions because I don't know nothing about scripts (altough
I tried to put the commands in the Start-Run... However I found an
application on that same website you told me that solved the problem. It's
called TaskbarRepairTollPlus! and It includes other features among this one
which is free (some other tools included on the package cost 5 USD).
So thanks!
ps-I see here "Why should I rate a post" but not how...that's why I can't
rate yours (sorry, I'm realy a beginner!)

Whatever, I'm glad you got it sorted. I can't help you with "rate a
post" because that has to do with the web interface to these
newsgroups. The web interface is awful and regulars like me never use
it. We use real newsreaders instead. Here's information about that if
you want to get more out of this resource in the future:

Since you are using the web interface, you may not realize that this is
really a newsgroup. You will get far more out of this resource if you
learn to use a newsreader. There are many good newsreaders for Windows,
but you can use Outlook Express since you already have it. Setup is
very easy. Here are some links to information about newsgroups:
