Taskbar Color changed...now won't...

I'm new to Vista...just started using it yesterday. I was playing with the
color settings and at the time, the color of the task bar would change
according to the color setting that I used for the menus, etc. Now, only the
menu stuff changes...the taskbar stays the same ugly grayish black. Is there
a way to completely reset the colors and start again? Or did I do something
wrong?

Right click on your desktop; go down to Personalize; click Window Color and
Appearance; click on color you like. You can make the color more or less
intense and with color mixer you can pick exactly the color you want.

I'm using Classic mode, and I can't figure out, even tying
the above, how to change the color of the taskbar (the strip
that runs, normally, along the bottom of the desktop
screen). Some of the notification area icons cannot be
changed, and their color is almost the same as the gray of
the taskbar, thus making them difficult to see.

Further suggestions appreciated.

Wow! Is this a recent update? I'm sure that wasn't there last time I
looked.

To return to default, follow the above instructions to get the Window Color
and Appearance dialog and then click 'Open classic appearance properties for
more color options". In the Color Scheme box, pick either Windows Aero or
Windows Vista Basic, whichever is appropriate. If your system doesn't
support Aero they're both the same.
