taskbar and start menu appear black

R

Rob Hutchinson

When I start windos now the tasbar appears black, all the
icons are visible but any text is unreadable, the same
goes for the start menu and control panel. Pictures and
web pages etc are visible but anything else is black,
inluding things like the status bar.
It all started when the system booted with the appearance,
as in th taskbar was classic style rather than xp. I was
attempting to correct this by playing about with the
appearance settings and the above started when I switched
between themes.
I havent a clue what is wong please help.

Hi Rob,

See if this helps:

Restore Taskbar to Default Functionality (Line 164)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Note: Do not reboot or logoff. Once the edit is merged, right click the
Notification Area/Task Manager/Processes. Highlight Explorer.exe, End
Process.

Leave the Task Manager open. Once the process has ended, choose File/New
Task and type in: Explorer.exe.
