I am on XP Pro with Outlook 2003 with all the latest service packs. I
recently recovered my Outlook 2003 data from a crashed computer to a
new computer. Yesterday everything in Outlook was working perfectly,
but today after rebooting, if I click on my task pane or contact pane
they are completely empty.

At first I thought I may have lost all tasks and contacts but then I
discovered I can get to my tasks and contacts by clicking on tasks in
the My Outlook Today screen which brings up all my folders on the left
side. In these folders I can get to my tasks and contacts.

My question is... how do I point the panes for "My Tasks" and "My
Contacts" panes to show these folders? I have been searching around
all morning and am about to try reinstalling Outlook if I can't find
the answer soon. Any help would be much appreciated.

Sounds like it is a view setting with some filtering. Try changing the view
settings.

Other then to select which panes I see and what order, as far as I can
tell there are no other view settings. If I am missing something,
please let me know where I can find the View Settings.

Thanks,

JD

No other suggestions, anyone? I guess I'll try a reinstall unless I
get a last minute response. I did find view setting area but changing
view settings made no difference.

Well to finish out this conversation with myself, I'll close this
question with the solution in-case someone else has the same issue.

I uninstalled and reinstalled outlook and had same issue, so I called
MS Support.

They had me go to the control panel, select mail, create a new profile,
select the 'outlook prompts for profile' checkbox. I then openned
Outlook, selected my new profile and imported my outlook.pst file into
my personal folders. Also had to reset up my email accounts, but
everything is now working. I then deleted my old profile which was
somehow corrupted.

All is well,

John
