Task Notes not displayed on list

On my task list, notes for individual tasks are not displayed. However, when
I go to the task pad in the calendar view, my task notes are displayed.

What am I missing?

The Notes column is present in both places.

It may be the "wrong" notes column - have a hunt around using the Field
Chooser (on Advanced Toolbar) and drag some other columns into the table in
your Tasks folder.
