Windows Mail from Office 2007 claims to be the successor to Outlook, but it
doesn't have any of the task managment features. OneNote has task
management, but only if linked to Outlook. From everything I can see I still
have to buy Outlook if I want any task management options. If this is true
than I don't see how Windows Mail is an upgrade of any kind. Am I missing
something here.

Windows Mail is a replacement for Outlook Express, NOT Outlook.

Thanks for the clarification Mick, I guess I should have caught that.

Windows Mail was never claimed to be a successor to Outlook.
It is a successor to Outlook Express, a very different email program.
Windows Mail has no relation to Office 2007.
