Task Manager

In Windows XP Pro, When I go to use the task manager
(ctrl+alt+del)it only stays on the screen for a second or
two and disappears. Try to repeat and the same thing
happens.
Also, when trying to run msconfig from the run command it
does the same thing.

Help, Please.

What if you have scanned for viruses. Installed the Norton
2003 upgrade. Checked the registry. And still it doesn't
solve the problem? It has got to be a Microsoft patch that
has created the Task Manager problem as well as the
regedit and msconfig not staying on the screen. Where do
we go next?
