Task Manager Won't Kill A Process.

I'm using SONAR for MIDI sequencing and I have several VST instruments I use
for making music. SONAR does this by opening DLLs (the VST instruments). Some
of my VST instruments cause SONAR to crash at random. When SONAR crashes, the
process is still alive. I've tried everything I can to stop the process, but
nothing works. I've tried task manager, taskkill, and even logged off.
Nothing short of rebooting Windows will remove the process. I also can't
start SONAR again when the process is alive.

How can I kill this process without rebooting?

download and run Process Explorer
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/ProcessExplorer.html

Right click on the process and select Kill Process Tree - see if that
works.
