Task Manager (occasional issue)

On few occasions after opening a program, IE or Outlook 2003 to get email
and possibly other programs, my pc will hang with the hour glass. I would
then open task manager to end the process but can't. I get the message about
the program not responding and the dialog box to send the error report to
MSFT but end up having to totally shut down.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

BL

Well, my system is WinXP Pro fully updated, McAfee firewall and av installed
and fully up dated, run Adaware and Spybot on a weekly basis.

If my scenario was malware, must have snuck in between checks.

Since it has only happened about 3 or 4 times in the past year I'll not
spend too much more time trying to figure it out but will keep up what I am
doing and perhaps check for spyware 2 or 3 times a week.

Thanks for the response.

Well it happened again. I was receiving an e-mail when McAfee started its
automatic update. I believe the 2 processes clashed with each other.
