task manager is now a little green box in the launch bar

History - had 'bug' i-lookup this past week - removed
from PC (Using Spybot and your assistance!) - (I have a
DELL 8200; windows 2000; I also have automatic updates
from Microsoft)
Same day that I removed 'bug', I started having problems
with IE6. So I un-installed IE6, it to re-install. To
my surprise, it did not uninstall - only took IE6 off the
control panel.
Now when I try to see the task manager, I get an empty
box on 'start' bar and a little green box in quick
launch. If you hold the cursor over the green box it
says CPU usage:10% - right click does nothing - left
click gives 'always on top' or 'close'.
1. How do I get IE6 back on the control panel - I read
that I must un-install MS service pack 2 - I have MS SP3
(When I clicked on remove MS SP3 in control panel - it
gave me a list of about 14 things that would not work
correctly if I continued?? I have McAfee Firewall and
Virus scan)
2. How do I get my task manager back?

Any assistance would greatly be appreciated!

Thanks,
Cecelia

PS I posted this problem to the wrong newsgroup..How do
I delete it from there??

Thank you so very much Robert. You are so very wise,
grasshopper! It was a nasty little trick of the bug that
I killed earlier.
Thank you again.

You should at least be able to access it via the Run... dialog:

rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance

The actual repair phase is only done during the reboot it causes
so best to start it with everything else shutdown and to avoid the
possibility of any of your security programs interfering with its
repair phase during the boot temporarily disable those too.

However, I think I know what the problem is and I don't think that
an IE Repair will help. I suspect that someone has played a
practical joke on you. TaskManager has what is known as Tiny Footprint
mode which doesn't have any normal windows controls but which can be
moved and resized using the mouse. Hence, you can have a Taskbar
icon for TM but you can't right click on it. What you can do is make sure
that its Always On Top option is checked (e.g. to make sure that any
bits of it which remain to stick out are at least detectable). Right-click
the TM Systray icon to do that. Now, the most likely
place where it will have been hidden is along the sides
or at the top edge of
