Task bar on top of info balloons

Howdy All,

I've had this happen from time to time, don't know what triggers it.

I have 'auto-hide taskbar' option on, and even now and then, when I hover my
mouse on an icon in the system tray, the taskbar will be in front or on top
of the pop up information.

Any idea what caused this and how to prevent it?

Thanks,
Brian

Thanks, I found a post on another forum about a reg edit that could fix it.

Posting details back here would be a polite response to those who made
an effort on this group.

Sorry, I should've clarified.

I don't like poking around in the registry so I didn't try it.

Why not clarify exactly what the registry edit was and someone can
help you and others with the same problem?
It is not necessary to poke around in the Registry if you don't want
to. Someone can make you a .reg file to do it, once we are satisfied
the edit is correct.

Yes, in fact,

I have downloaded a HOST of software/patches/fixes with the
little blue cluster of cubes that indicates a reg edit file.

I had NO CLUE what to do with those, so I must have 50 of
them tucked away here and there for future reference.

I downloaded something just the other day. I got an install
icon, half a dozen zip files, and a reg file.

I installed, then I'm looking at that little blue cluster of
cubes....

Just out of instinct (been at this a LONG time), I tried
right-clicking.

A menu opened that said "merge".

I thought, "Ah HAH! THAT's what you do with those puppies!"

They know where to go!

All I gotta do is "MERGE" 'em!

I quickly set a Restore Point, and dashed back to that Reg
Edit.

Knowing NOTHING about editing the registry, I prayed
silently... and merged!

it Worked!

;-)

I LOVE learning new stuff!

You don't have to poke around with that.
Download transoff.reg and either doubleclick it as per the
instructions on Kelly's page or right-click it and select Merge

You could STILL post the solution, and those with more
intestinal fortitude might have a solution to the same
problem.

Good luck!

I have this problem on a Win23 server. If you move the task bar to the top
or sides of the screen, the baloons display properly. If you uncheck
"Always on Top" in the Task Bar properties, the baloons display ok. But as
soon as you move the task bar back to the bottom of the screen or select
"Always on Top" for the Task Bar properties, the baloons revert to being
behind the task bar.

Just thought I'd throw what I found into the mix.
