Is there anyway to have the Date and time on the taskbar
instead of just the time or hovering the mouse over it?

Unlock the taskbar by right clicking it. Then stretch it
wider (up). Looks odd, but thats the only way.

Just dock the toolbar vertically on either side of the monitor. Both the
time and date will be shown.

It still has to be 3 lines wide, even when the TB is on the side.

I'm not sure how Windows would apply some internal "three lines wide"
calculations to a taskbar that is docked vertically.

Just click and drag the edge of the TB the same as if it is on the top or
bottom.

I think you misunderstood my question: how are you equating "3 horizontal
lines" when the taskbar is docked vertically? Any number of "lines" doesn't
apply in this case.

I'd call them columns, but maybe that's just me. Just saying the concept of
a line doesn't really apply in a vertical taskbar. IMNSHO. Besides, it's
not like MS terminology is the most straightforward thing to grasp...
