task bar and start menu hanging

When I clear the contents of the documents from the Start Menu, I go into
Task Bar and Start menu Properties to carry out the operation.

I have noticed that this procedure seems to 'hang', i.e. when I click on an
OK button in the Task Bar and Start menu Properties it takes several seconds
for the procedure to finish.

Anyone have any ideas why this happens, please?

Hi Wal,

I've noticed this if a Office 2003 product is running in the background (and
could repro the problem everytime). What processes were running at that
time? (See Task Manager)
