Target frame ignored

I have a website with auto-thumbnail pictures in the 'contents' frame,
hyperlinked to display the full size image in the 'main' frame.
The hyperlinks work fine in Frontpage preview, but from the ulpoaded web
version when you click on the thumbnail, the full size image is displayed on
the whole page (and the frames disappear), instead of in the 'main' frame.

On another PC it works fine, like in the Frontpage preview.
Is this a browser setting? Or is it a web page error?
Thanks for any suggestions
Colin

Hvae you used the correct names of the frames. There are only 4 standard
ones (I think) - all others must correspond to the name of a frame (as
defined in the frameset)

e.g. my frameset says
<frameset rows="82,*">
<noframes>
To view this document, you need a frames-compatible browser such as
Netscape 2.0 and above.
</noframes>
<frame src="heading.html" name="heading" scrolling="no"
noresize="noresize">
<frameset cols="130,*">
<frame src="sidebar.html" name="sidebar" scrolling="no"
noresize="noresize">
<frame src="index_main.html" name="index_main" scrolling="yes"
noresize="noresize">
</frameset>
</frameset>

So the only names I can use are "heading" "sidebar" and "index_main"

Yes, target frames are all correct, and it works fine in preview, but the
web version doesn't follow the target frame.
I tried emptying cache but that didn't help either.

The target frame name can be anything that you want, with no spaces, etc.

Thanks, Thomas.
I understood that.

What I was trying to find out was whether a name had been used which was not
either a standard name (_top, _self, etc) or a defined name. I think Colin
has answered, but still has prblems.

I leave this to the experts

Was this problem ever resolved? We are having the same problem with a site.
It views fine on some PC's, frames working correctly, but on others it opens
a link to the full page, instead of into the frame.

Should have a contents frame on the left, banner across the top, and then
the main frame which all the links in the contents frame should open into. I
have also had the same problem with another website which follows the same
layout.

Thanks

You've have got your targets set correctly so all links should be opening in the main frame
- except the paypal cart external link which should be in a new window
