Tapi Modem problems

New Xp Pro installation with new Agere modem and Classic Phone software,
modem is not seen as a Tapi device - fax only. Xp update included an agere
update early June.

Old modem Diamond SupraMax 56Kflex(driver is for supramax 2750) installs as
Blue Sonic mfgr. 56I - fax only. Classic Phone tools sees modem as Tapic and
will select Auto/fax voice but only function with modem is fax. Have
attempted to direct device manager to win95/98 driver without success.

I haven't used it in years but had an old supramax fax/modem running in XP.
Didn't install anything extra for it. It worked off of the drivers supplied
by XP. I installed XP's Fax component. That was good for one page faxes.
And installed the fax portions in Office XP to send cover page + message
page(s).
