tape drive compression

I am using the native backup for Windows 2000 and my
backup jobs are all scheduled and run a batch file.
The command line includes the hc:blush:n switch, but yet I seem
to only get the native capacity of my tape drives.
I have multiple servers with different type tape drives.
Also, I am aware that not all data compresses at the 2:1
ratio.

I do not seem to have this issue on my NT servers (using
the NT backup of course)

This is totally a function of your tape drive. Setting compression in
NYBackup just tells NTBackup to request your tape drive to compress the
data when it is being written. If you tape drive doesn't do compression
then the data will not be compressed. Check the manual for the tape
drive to see if they support compression and to see if there is anything
special that needs to be done to use it.
