Taking my first and last name out of email address

My email address always shows including my first and last names. I would
like to change it to only show my first name for security reasons, but can't
seem to find a way to do it. Would appreciate anyone out there whow could
give instructions. Thanks.

You do not say where it shows the info?

All your account settings are at tools menu>accounts>select your
account>properties.

If your email address is (e-mail address removed) you can't change it
locally.

For what I know, the best you can do is to change your last name to just one
alphabet. ie " B ".

Go to the account properties and change what is entered there. There can
be more than one place where your name appears.

If you are sending through gmail or another 3rd party server and using it as
a sending server (this allows you to send mail when you are not attached to
your ISP's network - a common scenario with laptops) then you also need to
check the settings on gmail or whoever runs the sending server.
